After over two years of careful planning, fundraising, and prayerful discussion, we are delighted to share that the solar panel installation at St John’s Community Centre is now complete.
The installation team from JPS Renewable Energy worked tirelessly through bitterly cold weather (including a snowstorm!) to finish the project. Thanks to their efforts, 34 new solar panels now provide clean electricity for our community centre. With a 15kWh battery system in place, we can store energy for use in the evenings and even keep the lights on during power cuts.

The system is expected to offset around 38% of the centre's electricity bill and you can see how much it is saving in the foyer of the centre and also by using the interactive app on Eco-Church page of the website.
This achievement would not have been possible without the generous support of our local councillors, Natalie Bramhall and Peter Harp, who helped us secure funding through Surrey County Council’s Your Fund Surrey scheme. We are also deeply grateful to the members Eco-Church group, who shared their professional expertise and guided us every step of the way.
St John’s remains committed to caring for God’s creation. Alongside this project, we have switched to green energy suppliers for the next three years and continue to seek new ways to reduce our carbon footprint as part of our Eco-Church journey.
We look forward to many sunny days ahead when we will be able to welcome the community into the facility, safe in the knowledge that the panels are helping to ensure the Church's environmental and financial sustainability.
