St John’s Community Centre is a vibrant hub of activity throughout the week and at weekends, offering something for all ages.

Alongside venue hire opportunities, the Centre is regularly used by our church groups and community partners. Activities happening here include Children’s Ministry/Junior Church groups and Y7+ group, Fellowship Friday, House Groups and Prayer Meetings, Choir Practice, Children’s Movie Afternoons, PCC, together with annual events such as the Christian Aid Big Breakfast and St. John’s Plant sale, Scouts quizzes, and Eco-Earlswood events. Don’t forget to keep an eye on Pews News and Parish Magazine editions for information about joining Church music groups, bell-ringing or other activities, or please do ask at the Parish Office for further details.

Since 2018 when the centre first opened, we have been delighted to have been able to attract a wide range of external providers to the Centre, delivering regular clubs and services for the benefit of the local community. One hirer has been so successful from their grass roots start at our Centre that they were subsequently in a position to take on their own premises!

Current Activities for adults offered by hirers include:

In addition to these regular hirers, Sparkfish and Steve Clark Music operate their offices from the Centre basement rooms.

Current Activities for children and young people offered by hirers include:

Maypole School also runs a cooking class from the Ground Floor kitchen.

Many providers have their own websites and social media pages (links above) where you can find further information. You are also welcome to visit the centre and pick up activity leaflets from the foyer during the Parish Office opening times. If you run an activity here and haven’t yet produced a poster or flyer, please do drop these off to the Parish Office and we will display them for you, so that others in the local community are aware of your group!

Venue hire opportunities have seen the Centre host community meetings, training sessions, talks, polling stations, a collectibles fayre, and private events such as wedding receptions, baptism, birthday and anniversary parties to name but a few!

As you can imagine, there’s a busy community here with buildings and grounds to maintain on a daily basis, and we are most grateful for the support we receive from Surrey Choices. Surrey Choices currently provides us with four volunteers who help with dedicated weekly tasks around the site including cleaning, maintenance, and supporting the TOTS toddler session on Tuesdays. We also acknowledge the practical help provided by church volunteers, particularly on the Saturday maintenance mornings.

We have recently also welcomed ad-hoc maintenance workers Brian and Tim who carry out cleaning and DIY jobs around the Centre and Church, and assist with the upkeep of the grounds.

We hope you will take the opportunity to enjoy and benefit from all that the centre has

to offer.
