The collaboration between St John’s Church in Earlswood and Franklin Music is beginning to catch the attention of local audiences. The Suppertime Concert Series, now in its third month, brings outstanding performers to the heart of the community — short early-evening concerts in a relaxed setting, with music that speaks for itself.

July’s performer was Khrystyna Mykhailichenko, an exceptional young pianist originally from Ukraine, now studying at the Royal Academy of Music. Born in Crimea, Khrystyna began playing at just four years old and soon found herself performing across Europe and the USA. Since fleeing the war in 2022, she’s settled in the UK and continues to grow as a remarkable and expressive musician.

It’s been a joy to welcome artists like Khrystyna to St John’s, and to see local audiences

beginning to discover the warmth and quality of these monthly concerts.

There’s no concert in August, but the series will return on Tuesday 2nd September.

In the meantime, St John’s will be full of creative energy as part of Redhill Rising — a new

youth performing arts project led by Franklin Music and supported by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. The project draws on the stories, legends, and history of the local area —including that which surrounds St John’s Church itself, one of Redhill’s oldest and most iconic buildings.

Two summer workshop weeks (11th–15th August for ages 11–18, and 18th–21st August

for ages 7–11) will give young people the chance to devise and perform original pieces of music and theatre based on Redhill’s heritage.

Each week ends with a free public performance at the church — 2pm on Friday 15th August, and 2pm on Thursday 21st August. All are warmly invited to come and support these young performers.
