MEADVALE HALL

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St John the Evangelist Church, Redhill confirms that the sale of Meadvale Hall has now completed.
Following a comprehensive marketing process and consideration of a number of offers — including some at a higher price — the PCC agreed terms with a preferred purchaser for the whole site. In reaching its decision, the PCC sought to balance its responsibility for prudent financial stewardship with its longstanding commitment to community use of the site.
A significant factor in selecting the preferred purchaser was their stated willingness to explore arrangements that could enable the 34th Meadvale Scout Group to continue occupying the part of the site they currently use. The PCC considered it important that this possibility remained open and very much hopes that constructive discussions between the new owner and the Scouts will continue.
The PCC also wishes to acknowledge the many years during which Meadvale Hall has supported local groups and activities, including Hightrees Nursery and the Scout Group. Alternative accommodation options were explored during the process, including at St John’s Community Centre.
This has been a significant decision for the parish, taken after extensive discussion, professional advice and consultation with the Diocese. The PCC believes the agreed outcome provides clarity for the future and enables the church to focus its resources on its core mission and service to the wider Redhill community.
We wish all parties well under the new arrangements.
